Meal Charge Procedure & Prices

The Mount Airy City Schools Child Nutrition program is dedicated to meeting the nutritional needs of all students and will assist schools with successful charge collection.
 
 
Meal Charging is not allowed since we are a CEP district and all schools meals are FREE.
Meal Charging is not allowed for a la carte items or extras.       
 
             
A la carte (beverages and snacks) will be available for purchase. 
 
There will be a $25 service charge on all returned checks.

Menus:

 

Menus are sent home monthly and are posted on the MACS website at www.mtairy.k12.nc.us. 

 

Bringing Meals from Home:

 

Students who bring their lunch to school must eat in the cafeteria. In the best interest of all children dining in the cafeteria, we ask that all outside food brought in for breakfast or lunch be packaged in plain wrapping. NO restaurant/fast food or soft drinks are allowed in the cafeteria during meal service times. 

 

Paying for Meals:

 

The Cafeteria uses a debit account system, which allows students to place money into a personal debit account.  Your child will be assigned a 3-5 digit PIN (lunch number) and will be asked to memorize this number.  Students will be able to debit their meal account for breakfast, lunch and any other extras they may wish to purchase such as ice cream, juice, water, etc.  Parents may place money on the account as often as needed.  Parents will receive a notice when the account balance falls below $5.00 and a connect ed message.  Please make checks payable to: MACS School Nutrition

 

Online Meal Payments:            

 

The School Nutrition Program accepts meal payments. Our online payment plan is a convenient method for placing money on your child’s meal account.  

 

LINQ Connect is a secure, online portal that allows families to:

  • make an online payment to their student's meal account
  • remotely monitor their student's accounts
  • set up automatic recurring payments
  • set up low balance email message alerts

Please note: Just as there is a transaction fee when using an ATM outside your bank’s circle of friends, there is a processing fee when using this payment system. Mount Airy City Schools does not receive any portion of these fees. They are assessed by the service providers for the processing costs of this convenience.

 

This is a popular program that many parents participate in. Please be mindful when parents put money on their students lunch pre pay accounts - it takes approximately 1 hour before it shows up in our school cafeteria system.
