  • 1:10 Math PBL at Tharrington Primary

Mrs. McCraw's 2nd grade class completed a Math PBL to help them apply their knowledge of measurement.

This particular problem came from the Wake Forest University/University of Texas-Dallas online repository of problem-based and project-based cases. Mrs. McCraw, 2nd grade teacher is a part of the MAPSS grant that provides teachers' access to the repository of PBL cases.

The problem asked students: "The Super Slider Sock Company has asked your class for help! They want to know what the "slidiest" socks are."

Staff members from Mount Airy City Schools served as the sliders while students became the data collectors. Afterwards, they analyzed their data to help them become problem solvers and answer the question, "who has "slidiest" socks at BHT?"

Sliders: Jamie Martin, Latasha Hudson, Kelly Johnson, David Benge, Brad Dowell, and Dr. Kim Morrison.
