Student Representatives Join Board of Education

Beginning on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, two students from Mount Airy High School will be joining Board of Education members at business meetings. Isabella McMillian and Morgan Hiatt will join the group during the open session of business meetings once a month for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year. Seven students applied for the positions and shared their interest in joining the Board.

After learning of their selection, Junior Isabella McMillian noted, "I am so excited to be joining the board of education this semester. I was interested in this position because it is an opportunity to be able to make an impact on things that really matter in our community. I'm excited to learn about how important decisions are made in our schools and how we as students can be a part of them."

When asked why she wanted to be part of this group, Senior Morgan Hiatt stated, "I strive to learn and help those around me and be involved in my community.”

Student representatives will update the Board of various events happening through the four schools and represent the student body during discussions.
