About DLI

The Mount Airy City Schools Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Program offers a comprehensive K–12 educational pathway designed to build near-native proficiency and literacy in both Spanish and English. Beginning with a 90:10 immersion model in elementary school, students gradually transition to a balanced 50:50 core instructional model before continuing into advanced secondary language blocks that offer high school credits and pathway opportunities toward the Global Seal of Biliteracy. By integrating rigorous academic standards with cross-cultural appreciation, the MACS DLI program prepares students to achieve grade-level academic excellence, foster critical thinking, and thrive as culturally competent 21st-century global citizens.
