Where do you teach?  I am a sixth-grade teacher at Mount Airy Middle School and I teach science and social studies.

How many years have you been in education? I have taught for 15 years in the K-6 education setting and 10 years as an adjunct educator at Surry Community College in the Business Department.

If applicable, how many years have you worked in another career? For 24 years, I worked in accounting and information systems management.

Tells us about your family. I am married to Robert Brintle and live in Dobson, NC. We have a son, James, daughter, and son-in-law Lauren and Andrew Moore, and a crazy, little dog, Toby.

What is your favorite part of the year and why?

Spring is my favorite part of the year. Everything is coming back to life again and the weather is just right. There are many things I like to do in spring: gardening, both vegetables, and flowers; visiting North Carolina's Outer Banks and exploring all the natural and historical sites around our state and region. Anything having to do with history or the environment is something I want to experience, so that is why I enjoy teaching science and social studies so much.

Finish this statement: I want kids to discover what a gift their life is, and how much they can achieve if they follow their passions with a good education. I love it when a student tells me about a book they read, or a documentary they watched because of something that was done in class, or their family goes somewhere we talked about in class.

Ask your class or group of students to describe you.

Helpful, Motivating, Thoughtful
