2015-2016 Accountability

Mount Airy City Schools (MACS) continues to be one of the best school districts in North Carolina! The
partnership between staff, parents, and community members continues to positively impact students and
the district’s success. With the recent release of the 2015-2016 accountability data, MACS saw growth
and success as a result of the hard work of many stakeholders.

Drug Take Back

We will be collaborating with the Mount Airy Police Department to offer families an easy way to dispose of unused or expired medications. Tuesday, October 18 from 7:15am-8:00am there will be officers in the carpool line at Mount Airy Middle School and Mount Airy High School.

Getting the financial aid needed to attend college often seems daunting; many don’t even know how to begin the application process. Surry Community College hopes to ease financial aid concerns and answer application questions by hosting FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Day on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 9 a.m. to noon.

Richard Childress Racing Partnership Continues to Grow

Students in Mount Airy City Schools will be racing into real-world experiences thanks to a $169,650 grant the district received from the Burroughs Wellcome Fund (BWF). The RCR (Richard Childress Racing) Future Drivers Project will engage students, 6th-12th graders, in relevant learning experiences focused on engineering, manufacturing, quality control, and analytics.
