MACS Announces "Of the Year" Folks

Schools have announced their 2020-2021 Teachers of the Year and Employees of the Year, while the district has named its Bus Driver of the Year, School Nutrition Employees of the Year, Central Office Employee of the Year, Beginning Teacher of the Year, and Principal of the Year.

MACS Increasing Pay for Those Delivering Meals

In response to the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis, Mount Airy City Schools will increase hourly pay for cafeteria workers, bus drivers, and other essential hourly workers that are supporting food services to “time and a half” through Governor Cooper’s executive order. This will follow the timeframe of the order and the district will revisit this pay should the order be extended.

Niston Completes Leadership Program

Emily Niston, principal of Tharrington Primary School, recently completed the Distinguished Leadership Program, a year-long leadership development program for practicing school principals designed and provided by the North Carolina Principals and Assistant Principal’s Association and sponsored by the North Carolina Alliance for School Leadership Development.
