The Homeroom section linked below was recently added and eligibility requirements have also changed. As of 2022, beginning teachers (BT) with less than 3 years teaching experience are eligible to pursue their National Board certification. However, you cannot become certified until you have completed your full three years. Example scenario, as a 2nd year BT, you could begin your National Board components by completing 2 of the 4 components in your 2nd year of teaching and during your 3rd year of teaching complete the final 2 of the 4 components. If you passed, with scores released annually in December, you would find out your final scores in December of your 4th year teaching and if passed become a National Board certified teacher as a 4th year teacher.
