After-School Programming

Public Notice

April 17, 2024

Mount Airy City Schools intends to apply for a 21st Century Community Learning Center Cohort 17 grant. Our district was privileged to have been awarded this grant in 2017 and, thanks to this impactful funding, operated our after-school Future Leaders Academy through 2021 and our summer enrichment experiences. We look forward to having the opportunity to apply for this potential 3-year funding again to provide our students with high-quality after-school and summer programming. For this round of funding, we will be applying to partner with Mount Airy Parks and Recreation (MAPR) to provide enrichment experiences during after-school and summer programming. We are thankful for our strong partnership with their organization, which allows us to access resources at Reeves Community Center, Riverside Park, and the Granite City Greenway.  If funded, this grant will allow our district to provide after-school programming for BH Tharrington Primary and Jones Intermediate Schools. In addition, we will be able to provide Summer Enrichment Experiences (SEE) for rising 1st through 8th grade students.

If you have questions regarding this funding opportunity, please contact Penny Willard at the Mount Airy City Schools Community Central Office, located at 351 Riverside Drive, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
